This firm is one of the latest additions to the
cities mercantile life. It has been established in this city for the past six
years, but has been conducted under this present management for the past six
months only; during that short space of time it has exemplified what can be
accomplished in cleaning, pressing, repairing of clothes and taking orders for
tailored suits. At the inception of the present management the business was run
down and in a worthless condition, owing to the wide experience of the
proprietor and his ability to make friends and execute work for them which will
cause their friends to patronize him, he has built up this business until at
present it is the largest of any similar establishment in this city. Cleaning, pressing
and repairing of garments are executed promptly at reasonable prices and a
specialty is made of tailored suits, which are well known for their lasting
fit, permanent shape and high quality of material. Mr. D. R. Mathews, the
proprietor and active head of this business, was born in Waverly, Kansas, in
1886. He has followed this line of business for a number of years and is
thoroughly conversant with all details pertaining to it and at present operates
the best appointed and most thoroughly equipped cleaning plant in this city.
Goods are called for and delivered to any part of the city. Mr. Mathews is a
valued member of the Knights & Ladies of Security and the Traveler’s
Association.
