Daguerreotypes

"Daguerreotypes are named for Frenchman Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre, who introduced the process in 1839. The daguerreotype is generally considered to be the first fully successful and practicable photographic process. It was commonly in use from 1839 until the late 1850s."
