Crystal Theater

One of the advantages which the people of Ottawa and vicinity have which are not possessed by every city ? up-to-date motion picture and vaudeville show. This place is located at 211 South Main Street, and was ? to the public September 20th of this year. The theater has a seating capacity of 365, electric lights, a ? and ventilating system, wide ? ample stage accommodations for producing vaudeville acts. The interior is hung with tapestries and frescoe presenting a pleasing appearance which is restful to the senses. It is equipped with a raised floor so that the entire performance can be seen from any seat in the house The entertainments are given every hour during the afternoon and evening. The price is ten cents. The motion pictures are new and refined in every particular and the most ? never take offense at the pictures shown at this place. The illustrated songs are also a source of pleasant recreation owing to the classical music and high priced singers ? here. The vaudeville acts are up to the minute and better in many respects than are often witnessed in the large vaudeville houses in the metropolitan cities. Courteous ushers serve and wait on the flowing throng of patrons with an urbanity and good will which evinces something more than the calculating exchange of trade and serves to keep the memory and associations of the Crystal theater warm in the hearts and minds of visitors and residents. The large patronage this place receives is ample evidence of the esteem in which this place is held by all. Mr. C. J. Clark, the well known and efficient proprietor was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1863. He is a graduate of the Ames College of that place. He previously operated and managed the Star Theater and Air Dome in this city. He is owner and proprietor of the Owl Café located opposite the Santa Fe depot. This place has been established for the last fifteen years and is one of the best eating houses here. It has won a meritorious reputation by catering to the desires of all the people. Mr. C. J. Clark is a Scottish Rite Mason, a member of the Red Men, M. W. A., K. O. T. M., F. A. A., and Sons of Veterans. He is highly esteemed in all classes, and no man in the county is better known to patrons of theatrical and amusements.
