John Mark graduated from Ottawa University, alma mater of several generations of his family.  He holds a Masters in History from the University of Kansas.  He has worked for the Kansas Collection at the Kenneth Spencer Research Library at K.U. and the Kansas State Historical Society in Topeka, and was Director and Archivist for the National Frontier Trails Museum in Independence, Missouri.  His extensive research centering on Franklin County has contributed greatly to our knowledge of the area’s history.
